Welcome to the

History Department

The study of history helps to develop a global perspective and an enhanced understanding of the processes of interaction, diversification and rapid changes in today’s world. It also builds on the skills of chronological thinking, historical comprehension, empathy, enquiry, critical thinking and communication. It has immediately relevance to students’ daily lives, and provides greater incentives for students to pursue their own enquiries.

Words of Wisdom

"The point in history at which we stand is full of promise and danger. The world will either move forward toward unity and widely shared prosperity - or it will move apart."

- Franklin D. Roosevelt

"When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you."

- Winston S. Churchill

"No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."

- Nelson Mandela
